How Lasers Work to Fix Allergies

The Laser Allergy Group's treatment method is based on the principal of Low Level Laser Therapy, or 3LT.

There are many types of lasers used in medical procedures. Some are used to cut exterior tissue while others are used for micro-surgical internal procedures. Amazingly, lasers can be tuned to only affect certain types of tissues, targeting the desired cells while leaving ancillary tissue unaffected.

3LT is used to stimulate the cells non-thermally (meaning they don't burn) in a way that encourages and enhances biochemical reactions. Studies have shown that 3LT lasers increase ATP production in the mitochondria, which are the energy-producing parts of our cells, which helps the cells operate more efficiently. This can speed up normal positive processes like healing.

First, the 3LT is used to "ping" the mesenchymal tissue, which runs throughout the body just beneath the skin, with the individual frequencies of more than 100,000 allergens. Our specialized equipment reads the body's response to determine which allergens you're allergic to. Think of it like the sonar a submarine uses to "see" its surroundings, except we're using light waves rather than sonar (sound) waves.

Once we determined the allergens your body reacts to, we use 3LT to initiate a positive cellular response at the same time a second 3LT pings your body with a "false" allergen designed to mimic the negative response your body usually has. By timing the therapy with the response, we're able to recondition the immune response into what amounts to a non-response. In other words, the 3LT has told the cells they don't need to react negatively to that substance anymore. Because allergy symptoms tend to be a learned response, it's like teaching an old dog a new trick.

The 3LT Laser in More Detail

Lasers differ in wavelength, power and form (pulse or continuous). The Laser Allergy Group's 3LT is the result of more than 1,000 studies proving it safety and effectiveness in treating various conditions. The 3LT laser is a 5mW, low-level laser that is non-invasive and designed to enhance metabolic activity. Early lasers were "hot" and used to cut, cauterize or ablate tissue. 3LT is classified as a "cold" or "low energy" laser and is non-thermal. This means it won't burn, cut or damage your tissue at any level. Regardless, these lasers should only be handled by trained professionals in a controlled environment, and all of our skilled technicians are highly trained.

Wavelengths are just as important as the power level. The 3LT laser has a wavelength of 635 nanometers, which is in the red spectrum of visible light (400nm to 800nm). It has anabolic (good) tissue effects. By contrast, shorter wavelength lasers (shorter than 320nm) fall outside of the visible light spectrum. They can be ultraviolet (UV), gamma and x-rays, all of which can be harmful to your skin even in small doses, causing cellular damage and mutation (i.e. cancer). 3LT lasers are absolutely safe and when used appropriately will not damage any part of your body, cellular or otherwise.
